My pricing is based on an hourly rate, quoted before any work begins, and based on the project’s clearly-defined scope and goal(s). My hourly rate varies, based on the type of work being done.
Note: Because of the inherent travel and setup time required for any shoot, production hours are always quoted in half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) increments. Additional hours for any given production day are billed at an overtime rate of $150 per hour.
Travel is not billed for projects within my primary service area of Snohomish and Skagit counties. For any project requiring travel outside Snohomish/Skagit county, I charge the federal standard mileage rate of $0.67 per mile - excluding the first 25 miles each direction (roughly the radius of my service area).
Example: a shoot in downtown Seattle would require me to drive approximately 40 miles each way. To calculate my mileage rate, I would subtract my complimentary 25 miles each way and charge for the remaining 15 each direction. 15 x 2 ways = 30 miles at a billed rate of $0.67 per mile equals a total travel fee of $20.10.
I will do my best to provide a detailed cost estimate, outlining how long I believe it will take me to complete the project according to the specifications. This method helps me fine-tune my costs to meet the unique needs of each client and project, while also giving my clients peace of mind knowing that hours and costs aren’t piling up without their knowledge.
Two rounds of revisions are included with every project, unless a project consists of more than one video, in which case, two revisions are included per video. The first round of revisions is intended to allow the client to make any changes they desire to the video as a whole. The second round of revisions is strictly limited to further adjustment of the changes requested in the first round, in case these notes weren’t quite perfectly executed after one revision pass. Additional revisions are always possible, but will require adjustment to the post-production hours quoted. Size and format changes for cross-platform sharing do not qualify as separate videos, only alternate copies of the initial video.
A minimum of two days and a maximum of one week is allotted for client review of pending video(s)/photo(s). I encourage my clients to allow themselves more than one occasion to review their in-progress projects, in order to better understand and critique both the work and their own impressions of it.
50% of the project’s quoted cost is required as an upfront payment in order to commence work on the project. The remaining balance, including any additional costs added to the initial quote, is required to be paid in full before final delivery of all finished videos. The client will be able to view their work-in-progress video(s) before this, but a watermark will be applied to prevent premature use of any "non-final" video edits.
I prefer to deliver all finished videos via cloud storage or other online file transfer. I am happy to facilitate requests for hard copy delivery, provided the client is willing to cover costs for postage and mailable file storage hardware (CD/USB/SD/etc.). All requested hard copies will be delivered either by hand or via certified mail, to verify accurate delivery and completion of the project.
